Are there any prerequisites?
- Yes! In order to utilize this service, you will need a new hardware wallet, software (and a computer) to interact with your hardware wallet, and funds ready for transfer from a Bitcoin exchange. When you purchase this service, we will send you a list of required (and recommended) items to purchase, then schedule a time to set up your devices once everything has arrived. We will also provide you with a guide on how to initially purchase your Bitcoin and have it ready for transfer to your hardware wallet.
Do I need a "Multi-Signature" wallet?
- In general, we do not recommend a multi-sig wallet for those new to Bitcoin. There is nothing wrong with storing your Bitcoin assets on a single wallet, the only benefit is an increased security posture. Because of the greater level of difficulty, we recommend multi-sig wallets if you are exceptionally technologically versed, or have a substantial amount of Bitcoin (5 coins or greater) that you wish to protect.
What is a "Multi-Signature" wallet?
- As a good comparison, imagine a nuclear missile silo that requires multiple people to insert a key and press a red button for a launch (just like in the movies!). With this setup, no single person is able to interact with the system by themselves. A multi-sig wallet operates in the same manner: your Bitcoin will only be able to be accessed with multiple hardware devices, each one authorizing the transfer of your funds.
What is a "2-of-3" Multi-Signature wallet?
- When we talk about multi-sig wallets, we explain their type by how many are required to sign transactions (in order to transfer Bitcoin). Multi-sig wallets are specified as "m of n", where a transaction requires "m" signatures of "n" wallets to be valid. So, for a "2-of-3" multi-sig wallet, if we want to transfer our Bitcoin funds, we will need signatures from any two of the three wallets. In the same fashion, a single hardware wallet can be thought of as a "1-of-1" multi-sig, where we require signatures from one of the one (only) wallet.
Why do I need a hardware wallet?
- Bitcoin is all about self-sovereignty and full control. If you keep your Bitcoin in an online account (such as Coinbase), you never have full control of your assets! With a hardware wallet, your Bitcoin cannot be hacked, stolen, or subject to any company failure that would result in loss of funds - the control is in your hands!
Will my personal information be safe?
- At Bitcoin Puzzled, we do not save any personal information obtained during sessions with our users. We will need to be able to connect to your computer during the session to verify the hardware device setup and transfer process, but you will have full control the entire time and be able to see anything that we do.
How do I know that my recovery seed is safe?
- We (and anyone who is trustworthy) will NEVER ask you for your recovery seed. During any of the sessions, the recovery seed should NEVER be spoken or shown to a camera. While setting up your hardware wallet, only you will be able to see the recovery seed and interact with it on the device only (NEVER input the seed into any computer).
How do I know that I am transferring my Bitcoin to the correct address?
- When transferring your Bitcoin to your hardware wallet, the device itself will show the destination address. We will never ask you to change the destination address for your funds (and you shouldn't listen to anyone who does!).
Do you offer any discounts?
- Yes! We offer a 15% discount on any services purchased with Bitcoin.
